Markthalle Stuttgart

Die Markthalle Stuttgart  befindet sich im Stadtzentrum von Stuttgart und wurde 1914 eröffnet, das heißt sie feiert in diesem Jahr ihr hundertjähriges Jubiläum.
 Aus diesem Anlass bietet die Stuttgart Marketing GmbH eine "Führung hinter den Kulissen" an. Hinter den Kulissen bedeutet in diesem Fall ein Besuch der Kellerräume. An den Bretterverschlägen kann man einen Teil der Originaltafeln aus dem Jahr 1914 betrachten und einen kurzen Blick hineinwerfen. Dabei erfährt man viel Interessantes aus vergangenen und heutigen Zeiten.

Das Jugendstilgebäude wurde nach den Plänen des Architekten Martin Elsässer erbaut. Sie verfügt über 5.000 Quadratmeter Verkaufsfläche und steht unter Denkmalschutz. Tatsächlich ist die Restaurierung der drei verschiedenen Fliesen mit hohen Kosten verbunden, da sie originalgetreu von Hand nachgefertigt werden müssen. Auch der Ersatz der oben umlaufenden Fenster, die im Sommer zur Belüftung dienen, haben die Märkte Stuttgart GmbH, die für die Kosten und die Pflege des Denkmals zuständig sind, zuletzt 130.000 Euro gekostet.

 Markthalle Stuttgart  is situated in the Center of Stuttgart and has been opened to the public in 1914, so this year is its centenary.
Stuttgart Marketing GmbH offers a  "Führung hinter den Kulissen"  (tour behind the scenes) In this case this means a visit to the Basement. You can have a look in the wooden shacks where there are still original signs from 1914.  Furthermore you will learn many interesting things from the past and today.
The art nouveau building has been built according to the schemes of architect Martin Elsässer. It has more than 5.000 square meters of selling space at its command and is protected by urban heritage conservation. In effect the restoration of the historic tiles involves large expenses because they have to be replicated manually. Last time the windows in the upper part of the market hall had to be replaced, the association which is responsible for the conservation of the Monument,  Märkte Stuttgart GmbH, had to pay 130.000 Euro.

findet "unsere" Messe, die Intergastra statt. Alles was mit Hotels und Gastronomie zu tun hat, wird hier ausgestellt.  Diese Messe findet alle zwei Jahre in Stuttgart statt. Zeitgleich findet auch die "Gelatissimo" statt. Hier geht es um die handwerkliche Herstellung von Speiseeis und natürlich darf auch probiert werden!

Expo 4.0 mit TV TecStyle Visions, GiveADays, Wetec und Destec
Das bedeutet: Textilveredelung, Werbeartikel und Promotion, hier werden vor allem Textil- und Werbefachleute angesprochen.

"Our" exhibition takes place, Intergastra. Everything which has to do with hospitality and the Catering Business will be presented. This fair is held on a biennial basis. At the same time you can also visit the "Gelatissimo". This is all about artisanal preparation of ice-cream and of course you are invited to taste the yummy produce.

That means textile decoration and promotion. Here you will meet primarily professionals from the textile and promotional industry.

Nach der Urlaubsmesse CMT wird in diesem Jahr noch viel Interessantes geboten.
Vorab noch eine Bemerkung in eigener Sache. Das Hotel Wartburg befindet sich mit der S-Bahn weniger als eine halbe Stunde von der Messe und dem Flughafen entfernt, Sie können direkt durchfahren, Umsteigen ist nicht erforderlich. Vielleicht haben Sie sich überlegt, sich ein Hotel zu suchen, das nicht so weit von der Messe entfernt ist. Das ist natürlich auch eine Überlegung wert. Bedenken Sie aber auch, dass wir uns mitten in der Stadt befinden und Sie so die Möglichkeit haben, Ihren Messetag in einem der vielen typischen Lokale in der Stuttgarter Innenstadt ausklingen zu lassen. Danach sind es für Sie nur wenige Minuten zu Fuß ins Hotel wo Sie sich in der Hotelbar noch einen Absacker gönnen  und mit anderen Messebesuchern ins Gespräch kommen können.

Von 25. bis 29. März 2014:
Die Didacta, Europas größte Bildungsmesse belegt sechs Messehallen und informiert über neue Technologien in allen Bereichen. Anbieter von Lernsoftware, EDV-Möbeln, E-Learning-Plattformen und viele Vorträge und Vorführungen bieten neue Denkanstöße für Lehrer, Erzieher, Ausbilder und Personalverantwortliche.

Von 10. bis 13. April 2014:
Die Messe "Fair Handeln" präsentiert zahlreiche Aussteller auf einer internationalen Fach- und Verbrauchermesse. Sie ist die älteste und bedeutendste Messe dieser Art in Deutschland. Die Besucher können sich über Leistungen aus dem Bereich Wirtschaft, Finanzen, Tourismus, Konsumprodukte und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit informieren.
Ebenfalls haben Sie zeitgleich die Möglichkeit, die Slow Food Messe zu besuchen. Sie findet jedes Jahr im Frühjahr in Stuttgart statt und ist eine Genussmesse der ganz besonderen Art mit regionalen und nachhaltigen Spezialitäten und einem vielfältigen Rahmenprogramm. Die meisten der dort Anwesenden erzeugen ihre Produkte selbst und erzählen Ihnen gerne davon.


After the tourism fair CMT, there are still interesting things to come this year. First let us write something on our own behalf: The Hotel Wartburg is at a distance of less than 30 minutes by S-Bahn, the suburban train, from the fair and the airport. You can reach them directly, without having to change vehicles. Maybe you thought of booking another hotel which is nearer to the fair. Of course this is also worth considering. Please don't forget, however, that we are in the heart of the city and so you have the possibility to enjoy the end of the day by visiting one of the many typical restaurants of Stuttgart downtown. After that there are just a few steps  on foot to the hotel where you have the oppotunity to treat yourself to a good night cup and a conversation with the other visitors of the fair.

From 25 to 29 March 2014:
Didacta, Europe's largest education fair, fills six Exhibition halls and informs about new technologies in all departments. Providers of educational software, furniture for EDP purposes and many lectures and presentations offer new inputs to reflection for teachers, educators, trainers and people working in HR.

From 10 to 13 April 2014
"Fair Trade" presents many exhibitors to consumers and companies. In Germany it is the oldest and most important exhibition of this kind. Services of economy, finance, tourism,
consumer products and development cooperation are the main themes
At the same time the "Slow Food" fair takes place as well. It is held every year in spring in Stuttgart and a culinary pleasure exhibition with regional and sustainable specialities and a varied program. Most of the exhibitors produce their own food and love to talk about it.

Messen in Stuttgart - Fairs in Stuttgart

Das Messejahr hat bereits begonnen. Am 11. Januar ging es los mit der CMT, der weltgrößten Publikumsmesse für Tourismus.
Länder aus aller Welt präsentieren sich, ebenfalls besteht die Möglichkeit, sich über Reisemobile und Caravans zu informieren. Rund 800 Fahrzeuge werden ausgestellt, davon werden 120 auf dieser Messe das erste Mal ausgestellt.
Themenschwerpunkte sind Fahrrad- und Erlebnisreisen, Golf- und Wellnessreisen und Kreuzfahrt- und Schiffsreisen. Es ist also für jeden etwas dabei. Ein Besuch lohnt sich auf jeden Fall.
Jedes Jahr gibt es auf der CMT auch Partnerländer, dieses Mal sind es die Dominikanische Republik und Serbien.

This year's fairs started on the 11th of January when CMT commenced, the world's largest consumer Exhibition for tourism.
Countries from all over the world present themselves. There is also the possibility to get loads of Information about motorhomes and caravans. 800 vehicles are exhibited of which 120 for the very first time in the world.
Priority themes are: bike and adventure travel, golf and wellness, and cruise and ship travel.
So there is something for all tastes and worth a visit.
Every year there are also Partners from other countries, this time it is Serbia and the Dominican Republic.

Gelbkopfamazonen in Stuttgart - Yellow headed parrots in Stuttgart

Was Sie vielleicht nicht wussten:
Stuttgart kann auch mit einer beträchtlichen Papageienbevölkerung aufwarten - und dabei ist nicht die Rede von unserem schönen Zoo, der Wilhelma
Diese Gelbkopfamazonen leben in Freiheit in Bad Cannstatt.
Woher sie ursprünglich kamen, ist nicht bekannt. Der erste wurde 1984 gesichtet, wahrscheinlich war er aus einem Privathaushalt entflogen. Als geselliges Tier besuchte er seine Artgenossen in der Wilhelma jeden Tag und man erzählt sich, dass ein mitleidiger Mitarbeiter ihm eine Gefährtin besorgt hatte. Dies war auch insofern ein Glücksfall als man das Geschlecht des Papageis nicht erkennen konnte und diese Tier sehr wählerisch bei der Auswahl ihrer Gefährten sind. Inzwischen wurden bei der letzten Bestandsaufnahme des NABU 48 Exemplare gezählt und unsere kleine Bevölkerung ist die einzige wilde Population außerhalb Amerikas. Auch in Mexiko, dem Ursprungsland, sind nur noch 7000 der Tiere.
Meistens bleiben sie in Bad Cannstatt, anscheinend erinnert sie die dortige Landschaft an die heimische Savanne. Gelegentlich werden sie auch in Feuerbach oder Fellbach gesichtet.
Sie haben sich bei uns gut eingelebt, finden genügend Futter, selbst für Pferde giftige Samen werden von ihnen mit Hochgenuss verspeist. Auch natürliche Feinde haben sie nicht, außer den Menschen.
Eben diese hatten vor einiger Zeit geplant, ihnen ihre Schlafplätze auf den Platanen Bad Cannstatts wegzunehmen und durch kleinere Ahornbäume zu ersetzen. Nachdem die Gelbkopfamazone aber inzwischen als heimischer Vogel gilt - drei Generationen leben bereits bei uns - wurde ihr Schutz aber als wichtiger eingeschätzt und die Fällarbeiten wurden gestoppt.
Also, viel zu sehen in Bad Cannstatt: Verbinden Sie einen Besuch der Wilhelma, der Mineralbäder Cannstatt und Leuze oder des Mercedesmuseums mit einer ornithologischen Stadterkundung und einem Besuch des Cannstatter Kurparks!

You might not know it,  but we have a considerable parrot population in Stuttgart, and I am not speaking about the Wilhelma zoo. They live in freedom in Bad Cannstatt.
Where they originally came from is still a mistery. In 1984 the first of them has been seen, presumably it had escaped from a home nearby. Since they are quite social animals, it passed every day at the zoo in order to visit other fellow birds. As it seems, somebody pitied the lonely parrot and soon he found a female companion. This in itself also was a piece of luck because the sex of the parrot wasn't visible and they are also a bit choosy with their companions. So the little family thrived and procreated. Last time the NABU counted, there were 48 of them. In their country of origin, Mexico, there are just about 7000 animals of this species in the wild and our 50 parrots are the only population outside of the Americas.
Generally they remain in Bad Cannstatt, have also been seen in Feuerbach and Fellbach, though. It seems that the landscape reminds them of the Savanna in Central America.
As for food, there is plenty for them, even seeds which are definitely toxic for other animals like horses, don't do them any harm. There are no natural enemies (apart from the humans) and they preferably use the plane trees in the canopy roads in Bad Cannstatt, returning to the same places every evening.
Actually the plane trees were to be replaced by smaller maple trees because they were becoming too large for the street. Considering that the yellow-headed amazons have become an endemic species, after 3 generations, the plan to dig out the plane trees has been cancelled in favor of the parrots.
So, much to see in Bad Cannstatt. Why don't you Combine a visit to the Wilhelma, the spas Mineralbad or Leuze or the Mercedes Museum with an ornithologic city tour and a stroll through the Kurpark Cannstatt!
